SusPot aims to enhance sustainability in the Potato Value Chain (PVC) by enabling seamless cross-border
data sharing between agri-food systems, demonstrated between Polish and Belgian platforms. Potato supply
chains typically span multiple countries, yet sustainability data remains fragmented and confined within
national boundaries. Currently, there are no standardised farm-to-fork (F2F) data flows across EU Member
States, limiting the ability of farmers, processors, and retailers to share environmental benchmarks and
perform harmonised sustainability assessments. At the same time, EU policy frameworks such as the Green
Deal and Farm to Fork Strategy increasingly require transparency, traceability, and measurable sustainability
performance across the supply chain. SusPot addresses this gap by developing the data-sharing
infrastructure and assessment methodology needed for integrated, cross-border sustainability
measurement in the potato sector.
Methodology
SusPot establishes a secure, transparent, and interoperable flow of sustainability-related data through
federated platforms and shared data protocols. The use case follows a three-phase systemic innovation
approach: I) Understanding stakeholder needs and co-designing the solution; ii) Developing the cross-border
data-sharing infrastructure and sustainability methodology; iii) Demonstrating the integrated solution
through a transnational Systemic Innovation Demonstrator spanning Belgium and Poland
The sustainability assessment framework is based on Life Cycle Thinking and addresses environmental,
social, and economic dimensions. Data exchange is implemented via a federated architecture aligned with
the Common European Agriculture Data Spaces initiative, using the Agricultural Information Model (AIM) for
semantic interoperability and following FAIR data principles and data sovereignty requirements.
Output
Three core deliverables: a Methodology for Integrated Sustainability Assessment, a cross-border Data Sharing
Platform connecting national agri-food systems including TubFlow and eDwin (Poland) with Klimrek tool via
DjustConnect (Belgium), and an Integrated Sustainability Tool - a web-based decision support system for
farmers, processors and retailers.
Impact
Cross-border visibility of sustainability and environmental performance across the potato supply chain, data-
driven sustainability benchmarking for all stakeholders, and a scalable and replicable model for EU-wide
Farm to Fork data integration and interoperability.

A validated cross-border data sharing model between PL and BE, expertise in semantic interoperability,
federated data exchange, and agri-food data spaces, and an integrated sustainability assessment framework
developed for the PVC, with potential for broader application in agri-food system.

Engagement from farmers and agri-food stakeholders willing to participate in cross-border data sharing, retail
and industry partners interested in sustainability transparency and benchmarking, and additional EU member
states looking to join or extend the transnational demonstrator.
